To see some old aboriginal paintings, we sailed at low tide to Stanley Island in the Flinders Group on Australia's northeast coast. It was a windy, wavy day, so sailing was tricky. Adding to the thrill was the knowledge that there might be crocodiles. We reefed the sail by wrapping some of it around the mast, and that made sailing much safer. We were startled at one point when a dugong suddenly swam away, but we had a safe expedition.
