Waving to Spectators

These racers sitting out on prys were relaxed enough to wave at spectators as they went past. The biggest sloops (like "Sea Star" here) had three prys. The prys slid out on the other side for the other tack, and all the people had to change positions to keep the boat upright. Sometimes people were washed overboard, and the racing rules required them to be picked up again which sometimes decided the winner of a race.
