This shows our course and anchorages during our three months in Chagos. There are several atolls in the Chagos Archipelago but no boats are permitted to anchor anywhere except at these two which are farthest north. The archipelago has no permanent residents and is a British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT). Diego Garcia is an atoll further south in Chagos which is leased by Great Britian to the United States for a military base.
