Trucks Loaded with Sugar Cane
Fiji's biggest export is sugar. The Indians were originally brought as indentured servants to work in the cane fields. They still do most of the cane growing and harvesting, though they usually work on land leased from ethnic Fijians. At harvest time, the trucks line up at the entrance to the Labasa Mill, one of Fiji's four old sugar mills.
