| Borobudur |
| Borobudur was constructed between about 778 and 850 but buried under volcanic ash about 1000 and overgrown with vegetation. It was rediscovered in 1814 and a major restoration effort was completed in 1911 and another in 1983. There are nine levels built with 2,000,000 cubic feet of volcanic stone on top of a small hill. |
