Canoe With Black Sail

This fisherman is setting out across the large lagoon on his small outrigger. His sail is apparently a black plastic tarp. While we were there the Butaritari lagoon was being fished by a large ship from China. Local fishermen brought them live grouper for $2.50 per kilogram, and the fish were kept alive inside the ship for sale in China. While this brought income to the locals, we worried that the lagoon might get "fished out" and they would all go hungry.
