Nam Khan River

Luang Prabang is on a peninsula between the Mekong and Nam Khan Rivers. In this view of the Nam Khan are gardens which have been planted on the bank as the water level dropped after the end of the rainy season. Gardens like this are planted all along the Mekong, taking advantage of the good soil deposited by the high waters.
