Trash

The waters of the Malacca Strait contain great amounts of trash. Some is natural (logs, leaves, coconuts...) but much is man-made and will not decompose quickly. Styrofoam, plastic bottles and plastic bags are among the most annoying items since they are usually tossed into the sea deliberately by people ashore and afloat.
