Hanging Pitcher Plant

This hanging pitcher plant shows the "lid" which most of them had above the opening. This probably keeps most of the torrential rain and hot sun out of the sheltered pitcher. There were a variety of colors, but reds, yellows and greens predominated. Insects attracted into the pitcher were consumed by the plant.
