Painted Cave at Niah

The Painted Cave was a short walk from the Great Cave at Niah. This cave had one wall of red drawings approximately 3000 years old. We were kept away from the paintings by a fence, and the dim light and faded paint made photography difficult. The cave was evidently used for elaborate burials in boat-shaped coffins. Recent archeological digging has found more graves at the site shown in this photograph.
