| This tipnol belonged to Balanda, and seemed one of the best ones in Ailuk. The outrigger always was kept on the upwind side when sailing. The hull had the symmetry necessary for sailing in either direction. The rudder could be attached at either end, and the bottom corner of the sail was attached at the other end. While tacking seemed difficult to us at first, we learned that they do it fairly quickly. |
