Jerry Rowing With Broken Oar

As we rowed into the water gate of Nan Madol's main entrance, an oar struck a rock underwater. Part of the blade was broken off, as you can see in this photo. We could still row, but efficiency was impaired. It was as if some ancient defensive mechanism was still operating, trying to hamper invaders.
