Iza Gwana Pagoda Relief

This was a sample of the stucco carving seen on many Bagan temples. This happens to be from the exterior of Iza Gwana, a temple north of Minnanthu Village. In this detail a crocodile-looking creature was devouring a smaller animal. These were legendary creatures which probably had great symbolic significance when the temples were built. We did not know what these represented, but they added interest to temple architectures.
