Dragon Station

This was an example of the small stations for the days of the week often found at eight compass points around Buddhist monuments in Myanmar. This was a "dragon" station for people who were born on Saturday. They were associated with planet Saturn and the southwest direction in addition to the legendary dragon-serpent (or Naga.) Burmese superstitions about the influence of a person's birth day often helped determine their names and constrained their marital choices.
