Te Ako Women

These women are part of the "Te Ako" dance group which performs only old, traditional songs and dances. Their woven fans are the traditional prop for women. Their makeup is turmeric in coconut oil. and they wear tapa cloth "sarongs" and sashes, some dyed with turmeric. They used to go topless, but now most wear some kind of top, sometimes for dance performances just leaves.
