Ferry Across Mekong To Laos

Huay Xai, Laos is on the far bank of the river. The small boats drawn up on shore are passenger ferries, and we boarded the one on the right. Larger ferries operating from a nearby dock transport large trucks. The long boat headed upstream in this picture is a typical Mekong riverboat for carrying both passengers and freight up and down the river.
