We were often offered crabs in exchange for "gifts." We much preferred crabs with large claws because those contain about one-third of all the meat. Nina steamed them in a little salt water, then cracked the shells, extracted all the meat and made crab salad to go on bread and crackers. Jerry really appreciated all her hard work.
