The primary reasons we stopped in Gan were to mend our torn jib and arrange for a new one to be made. Here Jerry was starting the mending process by applying sticky-back sailcloth to both sides of the tear. He then hand-stitched all around the edges of the patch. This was a pretty good repair but we still wanted a new sail. Sailcloth deteriorates in sunlight and in use, and this jib had been used since 2003. |
