The elaborate water gardens around the base of the rock include bathing pools and little islands with pavilions that were used as dry-season palaces. Further out is a moat which was once filled with crocodiles to help protect the inhabitants of the rock's immediate vicinity. The hydraulic technology is sophisticated and the landscaping is very beautiful.
